Hotels allow you to pass time quickly by sleeping for up to 2x 8 hours, depending on how much you have slept recently. First talk to the Hotel Concierge behind the counter to pay for the night, fees range from 8 to 80 credits. This will open a door, which will remain accessible until you leave the base or planet again. Walking to the bed in your room allows you to select how long you'd like to sleep. The point of all this is to wait until your injuries have healed or hoping for more advantageous guild missions to become available.
Hotels are on about half the bases in Ascii Sector. Most hotels rooms have a two tile bed and a table, but some of the hotels on bigger planets (i.e. New Beijing, New Frankfurt) have bigger, four tile beds. Surprisingly it is not possible to sleep in the beds in your own ship.
